Homepage of PhD candidate in Literature, Evelyn G. Vasquez

I am currently a PhD candidate in the Literature Department at the University of California, San Diego. I have been recently awarded the AAUW Dissertation Fellowship for the 2025-2026 academic year.

In my dissertation, I research representations of poor housing in late-nineteenth and twentieth century multi-ethnic U.S. literatures and its intersection with architecture and planning history. I relate and compare literary and visual sites depicting living conditions in Native reservations, enslaved housing, and tenements.
